The common names and history of Sempervivum are as interesting as
the plant itself. Translated, Sempervivum means “always living,” or the
common name of live forever. A common European name, derived from the
practice of growing them on rooftops, is houseleek. In the United States
they are most commonly known as hens and chicks, though they are
sometimes called cats and kittens or even old man and old woman.

Sandpit toys
On Saturday while clearing out hubby's rubbish dump at the side of our house, we also managed to clean up Reuben's sandpit. He has been having great fun building sandcastles and playing with all the other sandpit toys.

On Monday we met with family at Primi Life - Lifestyle Garden Centre for breakfast. The cousins had great fun in the play ground while the adults had a chance to catch up.

Papachinos
Strawberry ice cream and a blue balloon sword - What more can a boy ask for?
On the way out we stopped to admire the magnificent Koi and for Eric and Jos to show off their strength!!
When we got back from Papachinos there were more surprises. Reuben loved the outfits he got for Christmas and insisted on trying one on and then decided to just keep it on!

Another mystery mushroom
On Saturday while clearing out all the rubbish that my husband had dumped had accumulated at the side of our house, my youngest and I discovered these mushrooms growing in a forgotten little corner of our garden. I have made a half hearted attempt to consult Mr Google on this one, but have decided to just go straight to Pat O'Reilly for help. Will let you know as soon as I hear anything!

Reuben's Christmas Tree
Last night Reuben had his Christmas tree at his Nursery School. The evening was kicked off with the little ones singing Christmas carols, followed by the graduation ceremony for Reuben's best friend, Clement who is going to "Big" school next year. The highlight of the evening was no doubt the arrival of Father Christmas. What a clever man he is - Reuben got a toy guitar he so desperately wanted but mommy wouldn't buy!
